Crackling Spinach Fritters

Crackling Spinach Fritters or Palak Pakodas is a simply amazing Indian appetizer that is enjoyed by both young and old alike. These fritters are healthy, tasty and will definitely satisfy your appetite. They go along well with any dip and is usually a hit among the Indians during monsoons to go along with their cup of Chai. Try this easy recipe and I’m sure you will go back to wanting more!

Ingredients

  • 300g roughly chopped palak
  • 1 small sliced potato
  • 1 small roughly chopped onion
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 tsp finely chopped ginger
  • 1/2 caraway seeds (ajwain)
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup gram flour
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • 2 green chillies
  • Some twigs of freshly chopped Coriander

Procedure

Time needed: 40 minutes.

  1. Roughly chop the onion and the potato and add into a large mixing bowl.

  2. Add the cleaned, washed and chopped spinach to the bowl

  3. In a seperate bowl mix together corn flour, finely chopped coriander, green chillies and gramflour

  4. Add all the dry ingredients to the Spinach bowl and mix well. You could add in some water if the mixture is too dry. Let it rest for about 10mins

  5. Now heat oil in a pan and add small sized balls of the mixture to the hot oil. Fry on medium flame on both sides until golden brown

  6. Your Crackling Spinach Fritters are ready to be relished.
